The Board
Hay Private irrigation District is overseen by a board of five directors, elected every three years by the members of the district.
The most recent elections were completed in September 2023.
The following members were elected to the Hay Private Irrigation Board
Sam Barnes, Dean Whithead, Tom Jarratt, Brett Wade & Clint Headon.
Sam Barnes was elected Chairperson of the Board by his fellow directors. Dean Whitehead was elected Deputy Chairman.

How have you been associated with the HPID?: As a land holder and board member. Number of years as part of the HPID Board: 24 years, I have been an inurgural board member since privatisation in 1986. What are your thoughts, going forward, for the HPID?: Over the years we have achieved quite a lot and made a number of changes, I would like to see us still progress in the future, making changes as nessesary to keep us a modern, relevent irrigation district where our members can make money in their business pursuits | Name: Clint Headon How long have you been associated with the HPID?: How have you been associated with the HPID?: I am an irrigator and land owner on the HPID Number of years as part of the HPID Board: This is my 1st year on the HPID board What are your thoughts, going forward, for the HPID?: To ensure the HPID remains financially viable. To deliver water efficently and effectively to all HPID members. | ||
Name: Brett Wade How long have you been associated with the HPID?: 20 years How have you been associated with the HPID?: I am an irrigator and land owner on the HPID Number of years as part of the HPID Board: This is my 4th year on the HPID board What are your thoughts, going forward, for the HPID?: To ensure the HPID remains financially viable. To deliver water efficently and effectively to all HPID members. | Name: Tom Jarratt How long have you been associated with the HPID?: I was born on the Hay Irrigation area and lived at the Pump Station with my parents for a number of years. Eddie Jarratt, my father, was the channel attendant until 1973. How have you been associated with the HPID?: I started work with WC&IC in 1973 and worked as Channel Attendant until privatisation when I handed the role over to James Bisset. Number of years as part of the HPID Board: I have been a member of the Board of Director's on every board, except the first board. What are your thoughts, going forward, for the HPID?: To keep the best possible service to our members at the least possible cost for the long term survival of the Hay Private Irrigation District. | Name: Lurlene Mitchell (Minutes Secretary) How long have you been associated with the HPID?: 27 years How have you been associated with the HPID?: I am a property owner and irrigator. I was on the first board Number of years as part of the HPID Board: I was on the HPID for 15 years prior to assuming the role as Board minutes Secretary. What are your thoughts, going forward, for the HPID?: I would like to see the HPID keep moving forward into the future, with this in mind I see a very Rosy future. |
